Durham Airport Information

Handling in excess of 750,000 passengers per year , Teesside International Airport is one of the UK’s fastest growing air hubs. The airport operates a range of flights across Britain and several destinations throughout Europe. A growing number of operators serve the airport. The airport is situated six miles from Darlington and is well connected by road. Due to recent renovations, the airport now boasts excellent facilities.

Teesside International Airport is a single terminal facility, with check-in desks and Arrivals located on the main concourse. Scheduled services are provided by RyanAir, KLM, Bmi, Bmibaby and Eastern Airways. Teesside Airport is convenient for locals who do not wish to make the journey north to Newcastle Airport.

The airport provides comprehensive passenger facilities. Callers Pegasus and Thomas Cook outlets are situated in the main terminal and they operate foreign currency amenities. There is also an ATM machine and a post-box in the main terminal. Just inside the main entrance you will find the airport Information Desk. In the main terminal building a wide selection of foods and drinks is offered by Café Oasis and Yard of Ale. Car hire is available through several well known car rental companies at the airport.

Teesside Airport conforms to European standards for the provision of facilities for disabled travellers. There are specially designed toilets, allocated car parking situated close to the terminal entrance, an Ambulift for boarding the aircraft and an induction loop at the airport Information Desk for the hard of hearing.

Phone, fax and photocopying facilities are provided by the airport Information Centre. Business travellers may also use business and diamond class lounges in the Departure Lounge, close to Gate 4. Entry to these facilities depends upon the type of ticket you have.

Transport and parking at Teesside Airport

Six miles away from the airport is Darlington Railway Station, from where regular intercity services run to main locations south to London and north to Scotland. Buses operate between Darlington and the airport every half hour. By car, the terminal is located on the A67 between the major north-south trunk routes of the A1 and the A19, close to the east-west A66, which provides efficient connections to the Lake District and Cumbria. The fastest way of getting to the city and around is by taxi and you will find taxi services located outside the terminal building.

Teesside International Airport has long-term and short-term car parking facilities. The car park is situated close to the terminal and is monitored around the clock and highly secured. When you want to park your car, drive up to the barrier and take a ticket, keeping the ticket in order to make payment for your parking upon your return at one of the machines situated in the Arrivals Hall or at the Information Desk. Dedicated car parking spaces for the disabled are available. If you wish to park for two days or longer, you can pre-book your car parking online. For pick-ups and drop-offs, the first 15 minutes of parking are free of charge.
